The Royal Bhutan Police today formally received four new firefighting vehicles procured through the generous financial assistance of the Government of India, reaffirming the longstanding partnership and cooperation between the two countries.
The Government of India has committed Nu. 72 million under the 13th Five-Year Plan for the procurement of firefighting and rescue vehicles to strengthen RBP’s emergency response capabilities.
Through this support, the Royal Bhutan Police has successfully procured nine firefighting vehicles and one rescue vehicle. Six firefighting vehicles procured earlier have already been deployed to Paro, Gelephu, Samdrup Jongkhar, Trashigang, and Mongar, significantly enhancing firefighting and emergency response services in these regions. The four firefighting vehicles received today will be deployed to Punakha, Samtse, Gedu, and Yadi in Mongar Dzongkhag. The addition of these vehicles marks the successful completion of the procurement component under the GOI PTA achieving 100 percent progress in the acquisition of firefighting and rescue vehicles.
