On 9 March 2025, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for the Narcotics Drugs and Other Vices Division (NDOVD) conducted a Drug Awareness Programme for officers, other ranks, and family members of Division VIII in Samdrup Jongkhar. The session aimed to raise awareness about the increasing drug problem in the country and to discuss preventive measures.

Additionally, 55 police personnel received practical training and demonstrations on search procedures, arrest techniques, and appropriate handcuffing methods to enhance their capability in managing cases related to drug issues.

  • Informants who report drug-related activities receive incentives ranging from Nu. 3,000 to Nu. 60,000.

  • Proposal for the installation of scanning machines at crucial border checkpoints in Phuentsholing, Samdrup Jongkhar, and Samtse to combat drug smuggling.
