The SRPF and the National Search and Rescue Training Centre shall specialise in the fields specified in the RBP Act 2009 and the RBP Amendment Act 2022, and shall consist of the following units:
Special Action Group
- Conduct specialised counter-terrorism response and counter-insurgency operations;
- Execute any other special operations and missions;
- Be trained in specialised firearms, tactical manoeuvring, crisis negotiation, explosive ordnance disposal, and other related field skills;
- Be equipped with advanced weaponry, protective gear, specialised vehicles, and surveillance equipment to enhance operational capabilities; and
- Carry out covert operations, surveillance, and infiltration to acquire essential information.
Special Reserve Group
- Support ongoing police operations as supplementary strength;
- Assist and enhance security responsibilities during national and international events;
- Support local police during major breakdowns of law and order.
- Assist other police units during critical incidents, including riots, significant public events, or natural disasters; and
- Complete any other assigned tasks.
Bomb Disposal Unit
- Be trained in the identification, assessment, and safe handling of explosive devices, such as bombs, IEDs, or special packages;
- Render safe procedures by employing various techniques to neutralise or render explosive devices safe, which can involve defusing, detonating, or disposing of the devices in a controlled manner;
- Address bomb threats, suspicious packages, and actual explosive incidents, taking necessary actions to protect public safety;
- Be equipped and able to operate specialised equipment, such as bomb disposal robots, X-ray machines, and protective gear, to safely handle explosive devices; and Complete any assigned related tasks.
Disaster Management Training Unit
- Organise and conduct disaster management training as directed by RBPHQ;
- Enhance the capacity of disaster management instructors;
- Ensure proper care of disaster management training facilities.
- Oversee the tools and equipment for disaster management training;
- Provide training for other relevant stakeholders;
- Assist and support disaster management efforts in the field during national emergencies; and
- Fulfil any other responsibilities assigned.
