The 43rd Batch of 17 Officer Cadets and the 56th Batch of 260 Recruits (Maksars) officially joined the ranks of the country’s law enforcement. The passing-out parade was held at the Royal Bhutan Police Training Institute, Jigmeling, on 7 January 2025, marking the completion of months of rigorous training.

Speaking on the occasion, the Honourable Prime Minister, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, who graced the event as the Chief Guest, extended his congratulations to the newly commissioned officers and constables. He urged them to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, and service in maintaining peace and security across the nation. Highlighting Bhutan’s impressive ranking in the 2024 Global Peace Index, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay commended the Royal Bhutan Police for their unwavering dedication and service in upholding law and order.

Lyonchhen said, “the responsibilities of the Royal Bhutan Police are endless, and because of this, we hold deep gratitude and immense pride for the entire police force. We have unwavering confidence that the police will serve our country with dedication and integrity. During today’s passing-out parade, which includes 277 personnel comprising both cadets and recruits, we bestow the same trust in you. We are certain you will serve the King and the nation with the same excellence demonstrated in today’s ceremony. The outstanding reputation of the Jigmeling Training Centre further strengthens our confidence in your ability to serve well.”

The passing-out officers and recruits took an oath of allegiance, and awards were presented to outstanding trainees in areas such as academics, sports, games, and drills.

The recruits underwent extensive training in various outdoor activities, including weapon handling, drills, minor tactics, and sports. Additionally, they studied law and related acts, including the Civil and Criminal Procedure Code, as part of their curriculum.

The training duration for Officer Cadets is 18 months, while recruits undergo nine months of training.

Of the 17 Officer Cadets, 10 are male and 7 are female. Among the 260 Recruits, 207 are male and 53 are female. This reflects continued efforts to promote gender diversity within the police force.
