Operation Harmony: Together for a Drug-Free Society
To mark the 60th Raising Day of the Royal Bhutan Police, the Narcotics Drugs and Other Vices Division (NDOVD), Thimphu, launched “Operation Harmony”, a coordinated awareness and enforcement drive to enhance community safety, deter substance abuse, disrupt trafficking, and strengthen public trust.
The initiative combined awareness campaigns with law enforcement measures, balancing prevention and action in the fight against drugs.
Phase 1: Community Patrol & Awareness (30 August 2025)
– Patrol across Changlam, Norzin Lam, Jangchub Lam, Hongkong Market, Changlimithang, and Sabji Bazaar
– Over 200 individuals engaged and sensitized on harmful effects of drugs
– 15 snooker halls and 10 karaoke bars inspected
– 30 individuals warned for smoking in public places
– 13 abusers and 1 trafficker apprehended
– Canine Unit deployed, enhancing deterrence
Phase 2: Random Drug Testing (29 August 2025)
Locations: Olakha Workshop & City Bus Parking
– 64 tested and 10 abusers apprehended.
– 1 trafficker apprehended
23 abusers and 2 traffickers apprehended during the two operations.
Operation Harmony reflects the Royal Bhutan Police’s firm commitment to community safety, youth protection, and a drug-free society. Through community partnership and decisive enforcement, NDOVD Thimphu strives to build a safer Bhutan.
