Japan Donates Five Firefighting Vehicles to the Royal Bhutan Police
In a continued gesture of friendship and cooperation, the Royal Bhutan Police today received five fully equipped firefighting vehicles from the Government of Japan under “The Project for the Provision of Recycled Fire Engines for Western Bhutan.”
The official handing-over ceremony was graced by His Excellency Mr. Keiichi Ono, Ambassador of Japan to Bhutan, and the Hon’ble Chief of Police, Major General Chimi Dorji.
This latest contribution, made through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP), was facilitated by the Japan Firefighters Association. With this addition, Japan has now donated a total of 39 firefighting vehicles to Bhutan. The Government of Japan also provided a grant of USD 231,235 (approximately Nu. 19.533 million) to cover the cost of refurbishing and transporting the vehicles.
These vehicles will be stationed in Thimphu, Paro, and Punakha, significantly boosting fire and emergency response capabilities in western Bhutan.
The Royal Bhutan Police expresses its deep appreciation to the Government of Japan for its longstanding partnership and invaluable contributions to strengthening public safety and emergency preparedness.
