A drug enforcement team, utilizing a trained canine unit, successfully intercepted a drug trafficking attempt during a routine check at Shechamthang ICP, Sarpang, on March 18, 2025.

During the inspection of vehicles and two-wheelers travelling towards Tsirang from Sarpang, a black motorcycle was stopped for further checking. The two riders tested positive for illicit drugs.

A thorough search of the motorcycle by the trained canine led to the discovery of 145 SP Plus capsules concealed beneath the rear seat in a black plastic bag. Upon questioning, both suspects admitted to purchasing the drugs from a source near the Indian border and confirmed their intent to transport them further.

Following standard procedures, both individuals were detained for further investigation. The successful operation underscores the critical role of canine units in combating drug trafficking and highlights the RBP’s commitment to preventing illicit drugs from reaching our communities.
