This Division shall investigate matters concerning the protection of women and children. It shall consist of the following units:
Child Protection Unit
- Ensure the implementation of acts related to the protection of children by the field units.
- Supervise and oversee investigations involving children in contact with the law.
- Provide protection for survivors of domestic violence and those who are abused, neglected, or abandoned children;
- Liaise with other agencies regarding children in contact with the law and children facing difficult circumstances;
- Conduct a child protection awareness programme;
- Enhance the capacity of police personnel and relevant stakeholders in addressing child-related cases;
- Collect data and maintain records on children in contact with the law; and
- Carry out any other assigned tasks.
Domestic Violence Prevention Unit
- Ensure that acts relating to the protection of women and addressing gender-based violence are implemented by the field units;
- Supervise and manage cases involving domestic violence;
- Facilitate protection for survivors of domestic violence, as well as for abused, neglected, or abandoned women and children;
- Advise and provide guidance to field officers on the investigation of crimes involving women and child victims or survivors of gender-based violence.
- Coordinate with other agencies regarding women and children;
- Organise an awareness programme on the prevention of gender-based violence and domestic violence.
- Enhance the capabilities of police officers and relevant stakeholders in addressing cases related to women and children;
- Collect data and keep records of domestic violence in conflict; and
- Carry out any other assigned task.
