The Traffic Division will coordinate with the field divisions to plan and manage vehicular traffic. The Division will consist of the following units:
Motor Vehicle Accident and Data Compilation Unit
- Collect and maintain a record of motor vehicle accidents.
- Review the MVA records kept and devise strategies to reduce MVA occurrences;
- Oversee and observe MVA investigations in the field;
- Maintain the Motor Vehicle Accident Information System; and
- Maintain accurate records of breaches and traffic offences.
Traffic Management and Awareness Unit
- Guide and oversee the regional divisions for effective management and regulation of traffic across the country;
- Coordinate with the Bhutan Construction and Transport Authority/Ministry of Information and Transport, along with other relevant agencies, regarding the planning of traffic safety regulations;
- Conduct a traffic awareness programme; and
- Acquire and distribute traffic management equipment across the field divisions.
