The Sarpang Police Station conducted an anti-drugs operation yesterday following an intelligence-led surveillance of individuals suspected of involvement in illegal drug activities.
A surprise inspection was carried out at the Sarpang Workshop area and its vicinity with support from the canine unit. During the operation, four individuals were apprehended for suspected involvement in drug abuse and trafficking. Controlled substances were discovered from one of the suspects’ residences with assistance from the canine team.
All four suspects were tested, and each returned a positive result for the use of controlled substances.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the main suspect had recently procured a consignment of SP capsules from across the border and was distributing them within Sarpang and Gelephu using unauthorized routes.
