The Prison Service Division of the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) manages, secures, and rehabilitates inmates throughout the country. It ensures that prison facilities operate in accordance with legal and human rights standards while maintaining a secure and disciplined environment.

Inmate Security & Management – Ensures prisoners’ safe custody and discipline while preventing escapes and security breaches.

Rehabilitation & Reintegration – Facilitates skill development programmes, vocational training, and counselling services to assist inmates in reintegrating into society after release.

Legal & Human Rights Compliance – Upholds prisoners’ rights in accordance with national and international human rights standards, ensuring humane treatment and access to basic necessities.

Prison Facility Management – Oversees the management and infrastructure of correctional facilities, ensuring appropriate sanitation, healthcare, and living conditions for inmates.

Coordination with Stakeholders – Collaborates with the judiciary, governmental agencies, and non-governmental organisations to enhance prison management policies and rehabilitation efforts.
