This division shall ensure the prevention, investigation, and detection of cases related to narcotic drugs and other vices, and shall consist of the following units:
Demand Reduction Unit
- Oversee and monitor the enforcement of the Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, and Substance Abuse Act of Bhutan 2015, along with the Tobacco Control Act of Bhutan (2010), Tobacco Control Rules and Regulations 2016, and relevant laws;
- Prevent the misuse of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and precursor chemicals;
- Strengthen collaboration with appropriate agencies to prevent drug and tobacco use, its causes, and associated crimes; and
- Formulate suitable strategies and measures to prevent and control the abuse of controlled substances.
Supply Reduction Unit
- Oversee and monitor the enforcement of the Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, and Substance Abuse Act of Bhutan 2015, along with the Tobacco Control Act of Bhutan (2010), Tobacco Control Rules and Regulations 2016, and relevant laws;
- Strengthen collaboration with relevant agencies to prevent drug and tobacco use, address its root causes, and tackle related issues and crimes;
- Implement suitable measures to prevent and control money laundering associated with controlled drugs;
- Conduct research on drug-related programmes; and
- Planning and organising supply reduction.
Other Vices Unit
- Supervise and monitor the investigation of other vice offences within the field divisions.
- Raise awareness and develop strategies for the prevention of other issues vices offenses;
- Compile and analyse the reports on other vice offences; and
- Submit related reports to the RBPHQ.
