This Division shall be responsible for providing legal services and shall consist of the following units:
Legal Services Unit
- Represent the organisation in courts of law and tribunals as necessary;
- Serve as defence lawyers in legal proceedings concerning the alleged lapses of police personnel in the course of their duties;
- Educate and raise legal awareness for police personnel;
- Provide legal services and opinions on legal matters, including advice to the police person;
- Ensure a consistent interpretation and application of the laws, rules, and regulations; and
- Carry out any other assigned task.
Prosecution Services Unit
- Prepare a charge sheet for criminal cases involving petty misdemeanours and lesser offences;
- Prosecution of criminal cases in accordance with the law;
- Ensure the safe custody and presentation of evidence related to the cases;
- Engage and coordinate with the judiciary, the Office of the Attorney General, and other agencies concerning any legal matters;
- Oversee and supervise the implementation of laws in sensitive cases; and
- Carry out any other assigned task.
