India Supports RBP with Fire and Rescue Fleet to Strengthen Emergency Response
The Royal Bhutan Police has received a fleet of five firefighting vehicles and one rescue vehicle with support from the Government of India, as part of a Nu. 72 million grant committed under the 13th Five-Year Plan. Of this amount, Nu. 40.32 million has been utilized to procure the new vehicles and essential equipment aimed at strengthening the RBP’s capacity to respond to emergencies more swiftly and effectively.
This support marks a significant step forward in enhancing the RBP’s operational readiness, improving emergency response times, and boosting Bhutan’s overall disaster preparedness. With the increasing number of fire incidents and the expansion of human settlements, these additions come at a crucial time, enabling the RBP to better safeguard lives and property across the country.
The official handover ceremony was held at the Royal Bhutan Police Headquarters in Thimphu, where Mr. Niteen S. Yoela, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India to Bhutan, formally handed over the vehicles to the Additional Chief of Police.
The Royal Bhutan Police expressed sincere appreciation to the Government of India and national stakeholders for their continued partnership and reaffirmed its commitment to public safety.
