Inauguration of NDOVU Office and Stakeholders’ Coordination Meeting Held at Paro International Airport
The Royal Bhutan Police marked a significant milestone today with the inauguration of the Narcotic Drugs and Other Vices Unit (NDOVU) office at Paro International Airport. The Deputy Chief of Police, Crime and Operations Department inaugurated the unit, with the Director of the Department of Air Transport (DoAT), officers from Paro Division and NDOVD in attendance.
Following the inauguration, a briefing session was conducted for Paro Division and airport officers to underscore the roles and responsibilities in combating drug smuggling and other transnational crimes through the airport.
A stakeholder coordination meeting was also convened, bringing together key representatives from DoAT, Bhutan Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA), Customs, Immigration, Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA), and airlines. The NDOVU Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) were presented for review, and valuable feedback was gathered for refinement prior to final approval and implementation.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong inter-agency collaboration and collective resolve to ensure Paro International Airport remains secure from drug trafficking, gold smuggling, and related criminal activities.
