Chief of Police Brigadier Phub Gyaltshen inaugurated the newly constructed academic block at the Royal Bhutan Police Training Institute (RBPTI) in Jigmeling, Gelephu today.
The facility, designed for cadet officers and recruits, was built with financial assistance of approximately Nu 20 million from the Government of India.
Beyond this addition, several other infrastructure upgrades at the RBPTI, Jigmeling—also supported by the Government of India—include the blacktopping of the drill ground, the construction of a swimming pool, and the development of an artificial turf football field.
Of the Nu 900 million pledged by the Government of India to the Royal Bhutan Police under the 13th Five-Year Plan, Nu 60.85 million has been earmarked specifically for enhancing training infrastructure at RBPTI, Jigmeling.
These developments are expected to substantially elevate the standard of training at the institute. The new academic block offers a modern, well-equipped learning environment with upgraded teaching facilities and a computer lab, supporting more effective classroom instruction and digital learning.
Overall, these investments will help develop more capable, professional, and future-ready police personnel, thereby strengthening the Royal Bhutan Police’s service delivery.
